Wild About Animal Prints

2 min read

There's no avoiding animal prints in women's fashion this fall. You don't have to wear them if it's not your thing (see below for validation), but you won't be able to avoid the animal print trend as you intentionally add to your fall wardrobe. Here's some food for thought to keep this especially feral fashion moment in perspective (side note: to me, animal prints aren't technically a trend since they're ever present, but opinions on this differ as many people refer to leopard prints and other animal prints as trends).

Natural (as in consistent with the exterior of the living creature) animal prints are always in style. What varies is how prevalent these prints are season over season. It's also true your personal affinity for leopard, zebra, or tiger prints may ebb and flow. However, if you've never embraced animal prints, you should think twice before purchasing any this fall. If it wasn't ever right for you before (and nothing has changed), it probably still isn't right for you now.

Those of us with longstanding love for animal prints have a different question to ask before getting dressed this season: "Do the shape and style of my animal prints look current?" If you're still sporting your cold-shoulder animal print blouse from the last time that neckline had a moment, or a pair of round-toe logo flats (see my reel for the exact pair I'm referencing: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_lfYg1pTQp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==), it's time to incorporate some fresh animal print pieces into your wardrobe.

The good (and potentially overwhelming) news is if you're looking to incorporate animal prints this season, you've got OPTIONS (emphasis mine). My advice as a wardrobe stylist and curator of closets is this: keep it simple. Choose blouses in quality fabrics with your favorite necklines or invest in shoes and accessories with clean lines you can add to your looks season over season. IDK who needs to hear this but avoid statement leopard denim at all costs unless you only want to wear them this year.
